Out of the blue

You may remember last summer when I decided that I was going to write and submit a story or article to a different place every day for 90 days. Well, I failed. Miserably. I maybe kept that up for a week and a half, then nothing. Today, Shalee called me and said there was a letter from the Church Magazine department. I wasn't even sure that they had received my article because I submitted it online through a new submission system. Anyway, I told her to go ahead and open it. Inside was a letter expressing the desire to purchase my story and a contract should I decide to sell it. It always makes me happy when someone thinks enough of a piece of my work that they offer to publish it. Granted, that has only happened three times in my life, but still. As far as the Church magazines are concerned, I am two for two, to bad you can't get rich writing a story for the Church every six or seven years. And who knows? This story may not even see the light of day again, the church magazines just think that they might use it, so they want to buy it. Still cool.

As far as the podcast goes, I am very happy with the direction it is taking. The first week was shaky, but ok. The second week, I felt was much stronger and definitely closer to the type of show I want to produce. All of the guests have been great. I have a few more that I am working on now. Things look to be moving upward and onward for Talk Mormon.

Life is good for us right now. The four of us are happy and healthy. Hadley is learning so much right now, and talking more everyday. It has been great to have my oldest brother and his family in town.
